Online Consulting
Telemedicine technologies allow doctors and patients to communicate in real-time. Sessions can be conducted from anywhere in the world at a convenient time. Telemedicine is a remote consultation with a doctor via the internet (using messengers, video calls, phone, email, social networks, or special applications). During a session, they can not only see and hear each other but also exchange text and graphic data.
Telemedicine consultations enable patients to receive medical care even if they are in hard-to-reach areas or cannot personally visit a doctor for any reason.
Another option for an online consultation is a Second Opinion—the practice of getting an additional consultation from a medical specialist based on the results of conducted medical studies to clarify a diagnosis and treatment plan. Typically, this type of consultation is an expert assessment of the patient’s condition, carried out by a highly qualified doctor in a specific specialization. This leads to a more accurate interpretation of medical data and, consequently, improves the quality of diagnosis and treatment.
A second opinion can be obtained during an in-person consultation (for example, a medical board with several specialists) or as a result of a remote consultation using telecommunication resources. In the latter case, a second opinion is a part of telemedicine.
